Brochure copywriting idea: offer stimulus savings!

March 2nd, 2009 by wordfeeder

motoring.jpgIn the last four days, I’ve worked on brochures for two of my clients which are designed to jump-start sales in a slow economy.

Not only is this a refreshing change from the gloom and doom news headlines I keep reading, but it’s a far more accurate portrayal of what’s really going on in the world of business.

People are still buying from and selling to each other, yes, it’s true. Being involved with real-life marketing for real-life companies helps put everything back into perspective. If you think that the economy just shriveled up and died, you’re wrong.

I’ve got one client (an ad agency) who I’m partnering with on a brochure for their client which offers “stimulus savings” on home improvement projects.

Yes - if you have the money, now really is the ideal time to do some home remodeling, update to energy efficient windows, and improve the value of your home for down the road, when you’re ready to sell. And even if you’re not planning on selling… with more people doing “staycations” as well as eating in and entertaining at home… folks are interested in creating that “little piece of heaven” that means convenience and enjoyment for their families and friends.

(God, you can tell I’ve been writing brochure copy, can’t you.)

The other client whose brochure I worked on is a greenhouse business that sells flowering plants to supermarkets and garden centers.

They needed something to hand out at the next trade show they’ll be attending. The theme of the show is “How to Position Your Products in a Challenging Economy,” and frankly, I think it’s going to be great. Why? Because these days, folks want frugal solutions… and “grow it yourself” has made a big comeback because of that. So, in the brochure, we have lots of creative suggestions to help stores sell more plants and flowers. And I just had a blast putting it all together.

I’ll even share my client’s brochure draft with you right now. Let’s see if I can upload the PDF file without any major issues.

(Note: I have no idea why page 1 of this PDF file won’t show up here. It’s viewable from my computer. For now, just head straight to page 2 if you need some marketing inspiration…)

Have you thought about how your products or services might fit into the scheme of today’s market? Could what you sell be considered an investment for tomorrow? Are you offering any special discounts as an incentive to keep customers coming back and buying?

Wordfeeder Copywriting is even offering special copywriting project rates for the slow economy. Remember that we’re out for your best interest - and that means meeting you halfway on project pricing.

Great idea. Although people are still buying products and services, they are looking for added value and not always the lowest price.

As long as writers continue to offer professional work at a reasonable rate - they’ll be fine!
